Whole procedure in few words and photos (Poland)
Yellow onion is one of the three main products we are dealing with. We grow the best-quality onions, using seeds produced by highly-regarded suppliers, such as Bejo, Rijk Zwan and Nunhems.
Onion has underdeveloped root system and that is why it needs fertile humus soils which are rich in nutrition values and wet in the upper layers.
Growing yellow onion has long tradition in Poland. The climate favours its production, especially humid and cool spring during the vegetable’s growing season. When onion begins to dry, i.e. to ripen, warmth and drought favour it. During onion’s ripening season, warm and dry summer in the producing region helps it too.
After harvest, which finishes in September, the onion is transported to appropriate larders with the capacity of 8,000 tons and then it is transported to modern sorting and packing line.
Yellow onion has many nutrition and dietetic values, it shows antibacterial properties and has a long tradition along with significant culinary importance. The content of vitamins and minerals in 100g of onion is as follows; vitamins: E, B1, B2, B6, C; minerals: potassium 140 mg, calcium 31 mg, phosphorus 30 mg, sodium 10 mg, magnesium 8 mg, iron 0,3 mg, zinc 0,1 mg; energy: 35 kcal.

Onion storehouse is composed of six chambers with perforated concrete floor. Ventilation, drying and cooling systems guarantee the highest quality of the product for a very long time.
